Scott Brown raises $5M, holds cash edge

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) raised an impressive $5 million in the last three months, a total surpassed by few candidates — except his opponent, Democrat Elizabeth Warren, who brought in a whopping $8.6 million for her campaign.

Brown’s strong fundraising has kept him ahead of Warren in cash on hand, however. He now has $15.5 million to spend on the race, while Warren has $13.5 million in the bank.

Brown has also been spending at a fast pace. Despite his strong fundraising total, he spent $4.5 million in the quarter, and only banked approximately $500,000 for the fall.

Neither candidate will be short on money for the campaign. Their combined total already far surpasses the approximately $22.6 million spent in the 2010 race that Brown won.

Brown and Warren are locked in a tight race, which The Hill rates a “tossup.”
