Republicans expand Young Guns program

{mosads}The organization added four candidates to its “Contender” program, which it says is the third step of the four-step “Young Guns” program. The new label brings added support from the NRCC, but also higher benchmarks for fundraising and organizing.

Brian Whelan, running in California’s 16th district, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, running in New Jersey’s 9th district, Randy Weber, running in Texas’s 14th district, and Bill Driscoll, running in Washington’s 6th district, were all named as “Contender” candidates, bringing the total to six.

The NRCC also added seven new candidates to its “Vanguard” program, which, according to the organization, “provides a framework for the NRCC to assist candidates running in Republican-leaning open seats.”

Ted Yoho running in Florida’s 3rd district, Ron DeSantis, running in Florida’s 6th district, Trey Radel, running in Florida’s 19th district, Doug Collins, running in Georgia’s 9th district, Jim Bridenstine, running in Oklahoma’s 1st district, Roger Williams, running in Texas’s 25th district, and Steve Stockman, running in Texas’ 36th district, all made the cut. That brings the Vanguard program to a total of 19 candidates.
