Angle raises $14 million in third quarter
The campaign of Republican Sharron Angle announced a record-breaking third quarter fundraising haul Tuesday. Angle raised $14 million for her race against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) between July 1 and the end of September.
According to an Angle campaign source, close to $4 million of that money was raised online. The campaign did not say how much cash it has on hand.
“Sharron Angle produced one of the most successful single quarters of fundraising in the nation’s history for a U.S. Senate campaign,” said Angle spokesman Jarrod Agen. “This is a testament to the hatred of Harry Reid, the nation’s disapproval of President Obama and the unprecedented grassroots support for Sharron Angle.”
It’s an astounding fundraising haul for a Senate candidate and it tops all totals from Republican challengers so far this cycle. Last week, Republican Marco Rubio announced a monster $5 million quarter, which seems like small change next to Angle’s new total.
Still, Angle will need every penny against Reid. The Senate Majority Leader has yet to announce his third quarter numbers, but Reid had more than $8 million cash on hand at the end of the second quarter.
