Dem super-PACs launch blitz targeting House, Senate races
{mosads}The new expenditure comes on the heels of a $5 million buy from Republican group Crossroads GPS that targeted Democrats in each of these states except Ohio, Missouri and Connecticut.
The new ads target candidates on a variety of issues, ranging from from veterans’ care, against Rep. Jeff Flake in Arizona, to opposition to the auto bailout, against Richard Mourdock in Indiana, to women’s health matters, against Linda McMahon in Connecticut.
Most of the ads are issue-based, but the one running in North Dakota features voters touting Democrat Heidi Heitkamp’s character while questioning GOP Rep. Rick Berg’s. “Heidi’s just a good old North Dakota girl,” one woman says, while later, another says that “Rick has sold out to the Washington crowd.”
House Majority PAC (HMP), which is working to regain the Democratic majority in the House, jumped into Indiana’s 2nd district with an ad that targets Jackie Walorski on women’s issues. The ad charges that her positions on women’s healthcare amount to “a betrayal.”
The group is also running new ads against Rep. Dan Lungren in California’s 7th district, Rep. Mike Coffman in Colorado’s 6th district and Rep. Dan Benishek in Michigan’s 1st district. All three ads are the PAC’s second foray into those races.
Against Lungren, HMP is running an ad it’s already released in two other races, targeting Rep. Allen West in Florida and Coffman in Colorado. The ad features three people sharing their healthcare stories and criticizing the candidates for opposing stem-cell research they say could help them.
