Dem super-PAC launches ad defending Hagan in North Carolina
The Senate Majority PAC, a Democratic group, is launching a television ad to defend Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) against attacks from another outside group.
{mosads}The ad accuses Americans for Prosperity, which has been on the air in the state, of working “to shut the government down” and calls the ads “false” and “the worst kind of partisan politics” before touting Hagan’s record.
“Kay Hagan shares our values — grew up in a proud military family, a mother of three, experienced in business, an independent senator working to balance budgets and help create jobs, putting our families ahead of partisan attacks. That’s Kay Hagan,” the ad’s narrator says.
The ad is the latest sign that North Carolina will be a top battleground for 2014. That both sides are already on the air in the expensive state suggests what’s likely to be a multi-million-dollar air war that is unlikely to let up much between now and Election Day.
Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group created by the Koch brothers, has already been on the air attacking Hagan for her support of ObamaCare.
Polling shows Hagan is vulnerable, but currently holds the edge over her Republican opponents. GOP strategists say the path to the majority runs through her seat.
