Cotton ad features mother

Arkansas Republican Senate candidate Rep. Tom Cotton is out with a new ad, a soft bio spot that features his mother touting his military background.

{mosads}In the 30-second ad, Avis Cotton tells of Cotton’s father’s service in the military, and how it preceded Tom’s.

“Tom has a passion to serve our country. After Harvard, he gave up a great career to volunteer for the Army,” she says. “They offered to make him a military lawyer, but Tom insisted on the infantry, just like his dad.”

“We need people in Washington who do the hard things.”

It’s Cotton’s second ad of the cycle. His first slammed incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) for his support for ObamaCare.

Pryor is considered Democrats’ most vulnerable incumbents, and Republicans are already pouring heavy resources into the Arkansas Senate race to weaken him.

Both Pryor and Cotton have their own sizable war chests, however, and can afford to keep up the air war that is already underway through Election Day.

Pryor in October released an ad attacking Cotton for the government shutdown.
