Report: Graham’s primary foe in $1.4M personal debt
South Carolina state Sen. Lee Bright (R), one of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) primary opponents, has at least $1.4 million in debt from a failed trucking business, according to The State.
The report says he blames federal government policies for his company’s failure. The disclosure of the debt on his personal finance forms could hurt the Tea Party candidate’s campaign.
Graham is facing four primary opponents, all of whom are vying to force a runoff against the longtime senator. Bright has been ahead of the rest in the field, breaking double-digits in some polls, but Graham has been hovering around the 50 percent threshold he’d need to avoid a primary altogether.
