DSCC outraises NRSC in November

Senate Democrats out-raised Senate Republicans by $2 million in November.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) raised $3.2 million in November, ending the month with $6.4 million cash on hand and no debt.

{mosads}The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) raised $5.1 million over the same period, boosted in part by three fundraisers headlined by President Obama, and ended the month with $12 million cash on hand.

But Senate Democrats still have $5 million in debt.

That debt, NRSC strategist Brad Dayspring argued in an email, is what puts the two committees on near-equal financial footing heading into the end of the year.

He downplayed the $2 million lead Democrats held the past month, suggesting it was a disappointing showing for a party helped by the president.

“Despite being the recipients of multiple Obama headlined events — which would be expected to bring in between $3-4 million total — the DSCC only managed to raise a total of $5 million in November, meaning less than $2 million was raised outside of the President’s shadow,” he said.  

Democrats face a tougher Senate map than Republicans, as they have to defend considerably more seats than the GOP, many of which are in states Mitt Romney won in 2012.

In recent weeks, the party and the president have taken a hit in the polls, hammered by negative press surrounding the rocky rollout of ObamaCare.

The DSCC has outraised the NRSC by $16 million this cycle.
