Sen. Lamar Alexander’s (R-Tenn.) conservative primary challenger substantially increased his fundraising pace in the fourth quarter, drawing $250,000 and more than 1,000 new donors to his campaign.
{mosads}State Rep. Joe Carr’s campaign announced raising the quarter million on Tuesday but declined to release the amount of cash he has in the bank to take on Alexander.
At the close of the last quarter, Carr had about $286,000 cash on hand to Alexander’s $2.8 million. Alexander has not yet announced his fundraising totals for the fourth quarter.
But Carr’s campaign is touting the fact that the $250,000 is nearly five times more than the candidate raised last quarter, when he brought in only $52,000.
