Lindsey Graham opponent calls him ‘ambiguously gay’

One of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) primary opponents is standing by comments in which he called the senator “ambiguously gay.”

{mosads}Former Spartanburg policeman Dave Feliciano (R) made the remarks at an event, where he and three of Graham’s other challengers pledged to back whoever makes it into the primary runoff against the senator.

“It’s about time that South Carolina [says] ‘Hey, we’re tired of the ambiguously gay senator from South Carolina. We’re ready for a new leader to merge the Republican Party,” Feliciano said.

The comment made some the other Graham opponents flinch, according to The State in Columbia. Feliciano, one of the newest candidates in the race and the one with the least support of the poorly funded challengers, responded by doubling down.

“First off, I stand by my comment. I will not apologize,” he said in a statement. “You’re right, I came off as a bit insensitive, but it got your attention. It should have; there is more at stake here then a job. Lindsey Graham confirmed two judges that will continue the abortion holocaust in America for years to come.”

Graham appears to be on the cusp of reaching the 50 percent threshold in the June primary needed to avoid a runoff, according to recent polls.

One of Graham’s other opponents who didn’t join in signing the pledge to back any candidate in the runoff, Nancy Mace (R), released her first TV ad on Friday.
