Christie to fundraise for Land in Michigan
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is heading to Michigan to fundraise for Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land (R).
{mosads}The Republican Governors Association chairman has been barnstorming the country in support of other governors, but this is one of the few times he’s appeared for a candidate for other office. He’ll also headline an RGA fundraiser with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R).
Christie, a potential White House candidate, has faced major headaches stemming from his staffers’ decision to close lanes of a bridge as political retaliation. But while the blowback has battered his standing in national polls, it hasn’t slowed down his torrid fundraising on behalf of the RGA.
Land, a former Michigan secretary of state and RNC national committeewoman, has been running close in the polls with Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.). A live-caller poll released Monday from Denno Research found her trailing Peters by 40 percent to 37 percent among likely voters, while other recent polls have found her with a narrow lead.
