Landrieu ad touts Energy chairmanship

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) released a new minute-long ad that touts her work defending Louisiana’s oil industry using her own words.

{mosads}The ad shows news clips playing in Louisiana homes of Landrieu talking about her record on oil and gas and hammering the Obama administration, and calls her chairmanship of the Energy Committee “the most powerful position in the Senate for Louisiana.”

“For years she’s forced Washington to respect Louisiana,” a narrator opens the ad.

Landrieu declares, in a news clip playing in a family’s home, “the administration’s policies are simply wrong when it comes to oil and gas production in this nation.”

The narrator says Landrieu “forced” the offshore drilling moratorium to end and worked to ensure Louisianians received oil royalties.

“Now as the new chairman of the Energy committee, she holds the most powerful position in the Senate for Louisiana,” the narrator adds.

The ad closes with a clip of Landrieu declaring, “My eyes are on the people I represent, and the taxpayers, and this country.”

Landrieu is one of Democrats’ most vulnerable incumbents this cycle, due to the persistent unpopularity of the president and ObamaCare in Louisiana.

She’s sought to distance herself from the president and his policies, particularly on oil, and her supporters see her Energy chairmanship as a boon to her reelection chances.

Landrieu’s expected to face GOP Rep. Bill Cassidy in a likely runoff.
