Koch group pits women vs. Landrieu

Americans for Prosperity (AFP), the outside group backed by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, is hitting Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) for raising the debt limit in a new ad targeting female voters.

{mosads}“Women understand — it’s a struggle to make ends meet. The harder we work, the more things cost. Everything’s more expensive,” a female narrator says over shots of women at work.

“Louisiana families budget and make do, but does Sen. Landrieu?” the narrator asks.

The ad points to seven times Landrieu voted to raise the debt limit and the fact that the Senate hasn’t passed a budget in four years.

“Why should she live by her own rules? She’s spending your money,” the narrator adds.

The ad encourages viewers to call Landrieu and tell her to “stop overspending our tax dollars.”

It’s backed by a $340,000 buy and will run on both cable and broadcast networks in all of Louisiana’s major media markets, as well as online, according to an AFP aide.

The economic focus is a new line of attack from AFP, which has up, until now, largely targeted Landrieu’s support for the Affordable Care Act in its attacks on the senator.

She’s one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents this cycle, and is facing three Republicans vying for her seat in November, including Rep. Bill Cassidy (R).
