Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) didn’t waste any time launching an ad to attack Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) on the first official day of the general election campaign.
{mosads}Braley’s spot mocks Ernst’s record and now-infamous hog castration ad, accusing her of talking big while accomplishing little.
“We’ve all heard the one about pigs squealing. But when Joni Ernst had the chance to do something in Iowa, we didn’t hear a peep. In the state Senate, Ernst never sponsored a bill to cut pork. Never wrote one measure to slash spending,” the ad’s narrator says. “In fact, The Iowa Republican said she backed measures to actually increase spending. Joni Ernst ads are hard to forget, but her record just doesn’t cut it.”
Braley starts the general election campaign with a slight lead in the polls, and will look to use his big cash advantage to knock Ernst flat before she can replenish her campaign coffers following Tuesday night’s big primary win. The Iowa race could be a crucial one in the battle for Senate control.
