Crossroads reserves $20M for fall

The GOP-aligned groups American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS have reserved $20 million in initial television reservations for this fall as they look to help their party retake Senate control.

{mosads}The targeted states include Alaska, Iowa, Montana, Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina. The total doesn’t count $2.3 million the group is already spending in Colorado.

The largest investment, which was previously reported, is in Alaska, where American Crossroads has plans to spend $5.5 million to defeat Sen. Mark Begich (D). North Carolina’s reservation isn’t far behind, with Crossroads GPS planning to spend $5.1 million there, though that purchases a lot less TV in that state’s expensive media markets.

The buys, first reported by The Washington Post, also include $3.11 million for Iowa and $1.68 million for Montana from American Crossroads, the super-PAC, and $2.54 million for Arkansas and $2.12 million for Louisiana from Crossroads GPS, which is technically an issue advocacy organization. 

A group advisor notes this is the beginning, not the end, of its investments, and that the group plans to get involved in some House races as well.

Crossroads has been the biggest force among the GOP outside groups in the last few election cycles, though Americans for Prosperity and other groups funded by conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch have spent more so far this cycle.
