Poll: Democrat by 5 in Michigan Senate

Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) has a 5-point lead over Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land (R), according to a new survey from Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.

{mosads}Peters leads Land by 41 percent to 36 percent in the automated poll.

Republicans had been high on Land’s chances in Michigan earlier this year following a few strong fundraising quarters, but she’s struggled a bit on the stump, and Peters’s increasing name recognition has helped lift him in the polls. This is the sixth statewide poll in a row that’s shown him with a lead, though most still find a competitive race.

The automated poll of 578 registered voters was conducted June 26-29 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
