The Department of Defense and U.S. Army will review the plagiarism charges Sen. John Walsh (D-Mont.) is facing over a 14-page Army War College paper he submitted in 2007, a spokeswoman for the college tells the Los Angeles Times.
{mosads}”We have an obligation to send that package [with the relevant academic review board materials] to the DOD IG [Inspector General] to perform its independent and objective responsibilities,” Army War College spokeswoman Carol Kerr told the paper.
Walsh apparently copied more than a quarter of his paper from other sources without attribution and with only minor alterations.
The revelation likely doomed his already-uphill Senate campaign, and any ongoing stories about the scandal make it that much harder for him to recover in his campaign against Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.).
