Tim Scott becomes first African-American elected to Senate from SC

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has won election to a full term in the Senate, making him the first African-American elected to the upper chamber from South Carolina.

{mosads}Multiple networks have called the race for Scott, who faced token opposition.

He was appointed to the Senate in late 2012, after Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) resigned to head the conservative Heritage Foundation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has also won reelection, cruising to victory in the general election after crushing his Tea Party challengers in his primary.
