Sessions cruises to fourth Senate term
Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) was the only Senate incumbent to avoid a challenger this election cycle.
He won his fourth Senate term in his Alabama seat after first being elected in 1996. News outlets called the race immediately after polls closed in the state.

Sessions is the ranking member of the Budget Committee and is poised to take over the top slot if Republicans take back control of the upper chamber.
The conservative Republican ended the cycle with a war chest of a little more than $3 million in the solidly red state where President Obama won only 38 percent of the vote in 2012.
