Fla. rep: No decision yet on Senate race
Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) said Thursday he’s seriously looking at running for the Senate. But he disputed a news report that said he had already made up his mind.
{mosads}”I have not made a decision yet,” Miller, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee chairman, told The Hill on Thursday morning. “I still have a lot of things to discuss and try to analyze.”
Roll Call, citing two sources, reported that Miller would soon jump in the GOP primary to succeed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who’s running for president. One source said the announcement could come next week.
Miller was pressed repeatedly about the report, but he denied that any decision had been made.
“There’s no announcement (pending right now),” he said. “There’s been no decision made. … I don’t know where they got their facts.”
If he does join the race soon, he would have company in the Republican primary. Miller’s House colleague Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) announced last month he was running. Lt. Gov. Carlos López-Cantera is also expected to enter the race soon.
