Warren won’t commit to Senate reelection bid

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) isn’t saying whether she’ll run for a second term in the Senate.

The liberal favorite, who was elected to the Senate in 2012, said in an interview that it’s too early to talk about a second term, even as she expressed frustration at getting things done in Congress.

{mosads}“Republicans have blocked two separate bills that we’ve tried to move forward to reduce the interest rate on student loans. That just seems wrong to me,” Warren told Boston WBZ-TV‘s Jon Keller.

Asked if that meant she’d seek another term to the Senate, Warren put up her hands: “Too early to talk about that.

“What I’m doing is I’m fighting for the families who are there in Massachusetts, the families who sent me,” Warren said

Pressed a third time, Warren conceded, “I don’t want to answer that question.”

Warren defeated Sen. Scott Brown (R) in 2012 and is up for reelection in 2018.

She resisted intense calls from supporters to launch a 2016 Democratic presidential bid challenging Hillary Clinton. Over the weekend, she met privately with Vice Presiden Biden.

Biden is mulling his own White House bid against Clinton and is expected to make a decision next month.

“I don’t think anybody’s been anointed,” Warren told WBZ-TV when asked about her party’s handling of the 2016 field.

Asked about the recent surge of interest among progressives in Clinton challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and if she felt she missed her moment by not running, Warren flatly said, “No.”
