Carmona increases ad buy in final days of Arizona Senate race

Campaign spokesman Andy Barr said the campaign has raised more than it budgeted for the final week, and is using the funds to boost its presence in the Tucson and Yuma markets, both heavily Latino.

Carmona’s campaign added 200 points to its television buy in Tucson and 500 points to its buy in Yuma. The campaign also increased its radio presence, adding 350 points in Tucson.

The Arizona Senate race is one of the closest in the nation, and a slight increase in on-air presence could make a difference on Election Day. Though Carmona has lagged Republican Rep. Jeff Flake in most polls of the race, he’s kept Flake’s lead down to low single-digits and even slightly surpassed him in two polls, conducted in early October.

Flake has an advantage in the red lean of the state, but Carmona is outperforming President Obama. The race has remained close from the launch of the general election campaign, and The Hill rates it a toss-up.
