Blunt outraises Dem opponent in Missouri Senate race
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) outpaced his likely Democratic Senate opponent in the fourth fundraising quarter of 2015 and more than doubled his cash on hand.
Blunt raised nearly $1.3 million in the fourth quarter, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, topping Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, (D) who raised more than $870,000 in the same time period.
{mosads}Blunt also has a significant cash advantage over his Democratic rival. Blunt has $5 million on hand, while Kander has almost $2.1 million in his campaign account.
No recent polling has been conducted for the race, but a Public Policy Polling survey from August showed Blunt ahead of Kander by 5 points.
Democrats are hoping to gain five Senate seats in 2016 to retake the majority in the upper chamber.
They are defending only 10 Senate seats, while the GOP is defending 24, including Blunt’s.
