Two Dems advance to Calif. Senate runoff
California Attorney General Kamala Harris is projected by The Associated Press to get first place in the jungle primary for California’s open Senate seat, with Rep. Loretta Sanchez securing the second spot. California will have a November runoff between two female Democrats, ensuring the seat remains in Democratic hands.
{mosads}They are running to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.). Harris would be the second female African-American senator, and Sanchez would be the country’s first Latina senator.
Harris, widely viewed as the primary front-runner, received a huge endorsement from California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) two weeks ahead of the primary.
