Report: Justin Amash mulling Senate run

Amash is a favorite of Ron Paul backers, many of whom see him as the heir to Paul’s throne in the House. He has been a thorn in the side of House GOP leadership and recently was removed from his committee slots by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). Shortly after that, he voted against Boehner for Speaker.

If Levin retires, the seat could be competitive for the GOP — but an Amash candidacy might complicate things because his hardline economic views would be a tough sell statewide in Democratic-leaning Michigan.
