Paul: CPAC win, response ‘invigorating’
{mosads}”I can tell it you it was invigorating, I mean, it was exciting that probably there’s 2,000 young kids in the audience and standing and chanting, and if you want to find some energy for the conservative movement, you see it there,” he said on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
Paul issued one of the best-received speeches of the conference this weekend, which touched on typical libertarian themes that brought the crowd to its feet multiple times. And in the straw poll, he edged out Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), taking 25 percent to Rubio’s 23 percent support.
Paul is well-known to be interested in a 2016 bid, and his CPAC straw poll win, coupled with his recent well-publicized talking filibuster that highlighted President Obama’s use of drones, have helped launch him into national prominence.
And when asked by host Sean Hannity whether he’d come back on the show to announce his presidential run, Paul didn’t quite deny his interest.
“Oh, yes, absolutely, we didn’t already announce it, did we? Oh, that’s right, we didn’t say anything about that,” he said.
