Markey opens double-digit lead over Gomez in new poll
{mosads}Markey takes 49 support to Gomez’s 37 percent support in the new survey from Harper Polling.
The poll, conducted June 10 and 11, just two weeks out from Election Day, shows the two candidates splitting independents, each taking 41 percent.
That’s problematic for Gomez, who will need to substantially lead Markey among independents to overcome the significant registration advantage Democrats have in Massachusetts.
Though Markey has led in every poll of the race, Gomez has, for much of the campaign, managed to keep Markey’s lead to single digits. Two independent polls out earlier this week gave Markey a seven-percentage-point lead over Gomez.
Voters will head to the polls on June 25.
The poll was conducted among 498 registered voters, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
