Begich, Hagan helping McConnell’s opponent
{mosads}Begich and Hagan both emailed supporters Thursday afternoon asking for supporters to pledge support for Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D), a way for the Kentucky candidate to build a fundraising base.
“Folks in Alaska are best served by a Senate that works together to get things done. And in order for that to happen, we need to elect senators ready to break the gridlock and work together toward common sense solutions,” Begich says in his email. “Alison has fresh ideas to bring to Washington -— ideas that won’t just help middle class families in the Lower 48 but also Alaska families.”
Begich and Hagan are both top GOP targets this election cycle, while Democrats are hoping to knock off the GOP leader. While it’s unlikely either party will be short on funds in the two races, the Democrats may be hoping that money gets diverted away from his own race and toward Kentucky.
