Boxer: Dems need to match Tea Party energy as midterm elections near
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) warned that Democrats must match the Tea Party’s energy and enthusiasm or face the consequences in November.
“At this point, I think the polls are showing that there is more enthusiasm with the tea party party,” Boxer said before taking the stage at the California Democratic Party’s convention in Los Angeles Saturday. “I think it is absolutely a fact that we have to match that enthusiasm.”
According to the Sacramento Bee she added, “I’m just going to do what I’ve always done.”
Boxer is expected to face a strong challenge from either former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R) or former Rep. Tom Campbell (R-Calif.). The two are vying with state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R) for the GOP Senate nod.
Polls have shown Fiorina and Campbell in a close heat with the three-term incumbent.
