Obama sends kudos to UConn

President Obama phoned the coaches of the University of Connecticut’s men’s and women’s basketball teams to congratulate them both on prevailing in last week’s NCAA championship tournaments.

{mosads}Obama told men’s hoops coach Kevin Ollie that he enjoyed watching his team throughout their tournament run, the White House said.

Obama congratulated women’s coach Geno Auriemma on “how impressive it’s been to see the team continue to dominate the field of Women’s NCAA Basketball.” The Huskies completed an undefeated season and have won nine Division I championships, including four during Obama’s presidency.

Obama picked UConn to prevail in the women’s bracket, although he did not have the men’s team advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

The teams will travel to the Washington for a championship ceremony soon, the White House said.
