The Republican National Committee knocked President Obama Wednesday for taking a two-week, golf-heavy vacation in Martha’s Vineyard during a trio of international crises.
The Republican campaign arm released a one-minute Web video titled “par for the course” criticizing his vacation and the president’s numerous trips to the links.
{mosads}”America needs a president who’s more devoted to foreign policy than his golf game,” says one graphic in the video.
Another reads: “Not much comes between Obama and his vacations.”
The video splices reports detailing the estate where the president is staying with images from Ukraine, rocket fire between Israel and Hamas and people with guns pointed at them in Iraq.
The United States began launching targeted airstrikes in Iraq last week to combat forces of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, which has taken over sections of the country.
Obama has hit the links three times during his trip to Massachusetts, with the latest coming Tuesday at the Vineyard Golf Club.
The White House has said Obama travels with all the equipment and advisors needed to carry out his functions as the commander in chief.
Since his trip began, the White House has released readouts of calls he made with a number of international leaders, including the prime ministers of Turkey, Canada and Italy, the prime minister-designate of Iraq, and Ukraine’s president.
“Let me just say, as a general matter, that whenever the president travels anywhere — and this will be true when the president travels to Massachusetts at the end of this week — that he travels with an array of communications equipment and national security advisors that will allow him to perform all of the functions that are required of America’s commander in chief,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said last week.
