Christie calls weight loss report inaccurate

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) continues to keep a tight lip over how much weight he lost since undergoing gastric bypass surgery last year. 

While campaigning in Connecticut, he denied a report that he told a group of donors he had shed 85 pounds so far. 

{mosads}”First off, I don’t talk about numbers and so the report in The New York Times was — I can tell you this much, it wasn’t accurate, but I’m not going to tell you why it wasn’t accurate,” he told reporters. “I don’t talk about that stuff, and the reason I don’t is because that’s my business and not anybody else’s.”

The Times reported Christie told a group of donors about his weight loss during a gathering at the Manhattan apartment of David Koch.

Christie, a potential 2016 contender, has called the surgery last February life changing but has continuously rebuffed questions about his weight loss totals.   

During the stop Tuesday, he said the decision came when he turned 50, and he decided he needed to make a change. He dismissed assertions that it was a political move.  

“I got elected to office at my previous size, and it didn’t seem to bother the voters of New Jersey twice,” he said. “So, the people who say it’s about politics are just wrong. It’s about living a healthier life and being healthier and being able to stay around longer.”
