Priebus: GOP shouldn’t ‘capitulate’ to Obama
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Wednesday that Republicans should not “capitulate” to President Obama.
Speaking on Fox News’s “Hannity,” Priebus listed Republican priorities: “ObamaCare repeal and replace, Keystone pipeline, pass a budget, you can do it without the president’s signature, and I wouldn’t capitulate on a whole lot because the president is the one that was repudiated.”
Earlier in the day, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), signaled that there could be areas of agreement. “We ought to start with the view that maybe there are some things we can agree on to make progress for the country,” he said at a press conference.
McConnell and Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) wrote a Wall Street Journal op-ed published Wednesday on Congress’s priorities. In it, they wrote that in addition to repealing ObamaCare and approving the Keystone pipeline, Congress should also focus on House-passed jobs bills and supporting charter schools, measures that Priebus did not mention.
