Rep.-elect Love: Obama ‘needs to remember who he works for’
Representative-elect Mia Love (R-Utah), rising to national prominence as a black Republican woman, said Wednesday that America “looks more like a dictatorship when a president” acts alone.
{mosads}Love was discussing President Obama’s planned executive actions on immigration.
“It should be done line by line, section by section with the input of the public instead of being done by one person,” she said on Fox News. “It looks more like a dictatorship when a president is unilaterally making decisions for the American people.”
Love said that Obama should be working with Congress on the issue.
“It’s certainly not something that the president should be doing unilaterally,” she said. “This is about the American people. He needs to remember who he works for. And that is for the people of the United States of America. He can’t make unilateral decisions.”
Obama’s immigration executive action could come as early as this week. Reports surfaced Wednesday that Obama could be heading to Las Vegas on Friday, in what has the potential to be an immigration announcement.
Reports have suggested the action could cover as many as five million people in the country illegally. Republicans are pushing back hard and are considering options to fight the actions.
