Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas) says he will back fellow Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) for Speaker of the House.
“Let’s all get behind Judge Louie Gohmert for Speaker,” he tweeted on Tuesday. “He has my vote! He’s not afraid to take the fight to the president & his veto pen!”
{mosads}Weber is the 11th member to go on record with their opposition to Boehner, according to a whip count maintained by The Hill. Weber’s support could also encourage other Texas Republicans to back Gohmert.
Gohmert and Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) are both running against Boehner, who conservatives say hasn’t backed aggressive enough action to oppose President Obama’s executive order on immigration.
Boehner’s allies have said that the Speaker’s reelection is secure, but criticized the challengers as “unprofessional.” Neither Gohmert nor Yoho challenged Boehner in the conference elections for Speaker held late last year.
