Man arrested for scaling bike rack outside White House

A man was arrested outside the White House Sunday afternoon, after he climbed on top of a temporary bike rack placed by the building’s fencing, according to reports.

Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary told The Associated Press and Reuters that the bike rack was set off from the fence. He added that the man did not make it over the fence.

The man was reportedly charged with unlawful entry and taken into custody by the Washington, D.C., police department.

Last year, a fence jumper made it into the executive mansion while holding a knife. That incident contributed to the resignation of Secret Service Director Julia Pierson. Other fence climbers have been downed by agents and dogs outside of the building.

Sunday’s arrest also comes days after a small drone crashed on the White House grounds.
