Obama to speak in Indiana Friday
President Obama will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., on Friday to promote the agenda he laid out in last month’s State of the Union address.
He will speak at Ivy Tech Community College, which has campuses throughout Indiana.
Obama has proposed a program that would provide two free years of community college for students who maintain a certain grade point average and who are actively working toward a degree. Republicans in Congress have blasted the plan.
The president will be joined by a number of current and former elected officials, including Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Rep. André Carson (D-Ind.) and former Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.).
The trip follows similar visits to Idaho and Kansas immediately after the State of the Union.
