Ben Carson called Obama a ‘psychopath’
Ben Carson, a conservative activist and retired neurosurgeon who is considering a run for president, called President Obama a “psychopath” in a recent exchange captured by a reporter.
{mosads}While watching Obama’s State of the Union address this year, Carson adviser Armstrong Williams — who has contributed commentary to The Hill — remarked that Obama looked good.
“Like most psychopaths,” Carson replied, in an exchange that appears in a GQ profile. “That’s why they’re successful. That’s the way they look. They all look great.”
Williams remarked that Obama “faces the same challenges you will face” in terms of selling his message.
“But he knows he’s telling a lie!” Carson reportedly said. “He’s trying to sell what he thinks is not true! He’s sitting there saying, ‘These Americans are so stupid I can tell them anything.’ “
Carson is a Tea Party favorite who has become a Republican star in recent years. He is well-liked by many on the party’s right flank and sits in third place on the RealClearPolitics polling average for the 2016 Republican nomination.
But some have also wondered whether he is ready to take on a campaign for the presidency. In a recent interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Carson appeared to stumble on several foreign policy questions.
Carson launched an exploratory committee earlier this month, as he moves toward a decision on running.
