Christie’s son to intern with the Mets
Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) son is stepping up to the plate for his next work experience.
Watchdog.org reported on Thursday that Andrew Christie, 21, will serve in the New York Mets’ summer intern bullpen.
{mosads}“The Mets annually take a group of about 20 college students for summer internship opportunities that includes working in many different departments throughout the organization,” the MLB team said in a statement.
“Andrew Christie is among those students this summer,” it continued.
The young Christie’s gig comes through previous experience with America’s pastime; Andrew is a substitute catcher on Princeton University’s team.
NJ Spotlight reported on Feb. 15 that Andrew previously interned with the Mets during their 2013 season. His two stints with the organization add another wrinkle to the friendship between his father and Mets owner Fred Wilpon.
Wilpon, a longtime Christie supporter, hosted the governor at an exhibition game in Florida last month. He also donated $3,400 to Christie’s 2009 gubernatorial campaign but kept his wallet closed during the 2013 state races.
The Mets made the announcement as Christie mulls a 2016 White House bid.
