Italy terror arrests include reported bin Laden bodyguards
Italy said Friday it was moving to arrest 18 terror suspects, including two the authorities said had been bodyguards for Osama bin Laden.
{mosads}The Associated Press quoted officials saying the 18 were behind “numerous bloody acts of terrorism in Pakistan.” The network reportedly was hoping to bring down the government in Islamabad.
Authorities alleged that the network had been responsible for the 2009 bombing of a market in Peshawar that killed more than 100 people, the AP reported.
A prosecutor also said the network of suspects had been planning to bomb the Vatican in 2010, but the plan was never executed, and a purported suicide bomber left Italy, according to the AP.
An Italian official told the wire service that the suspects were being sought in different parts of country.
