Three charred bodies were found along with the wreckage of a U.S. military helicopter that went missing on an earthquake aid mission earlier this week in Nepal.
Six American Marines and two Nepali service members were aboard the chopper.
{mosads}The bodies were found along with the U.S. Marine helicopter wreckage in a mountainous area east of Kathmandu, Nepali Defense Secretary Ishwori Paudyal said, according to multiple reports.
The Huey helicopter was reported missing near the village of Charikot on Tuesday night, the Joint Task Force said in a statement.
President Obama offered condolences for the deaths of the U.S. service members involved in the helicopter crash.
“They represent a truth that guides our work around the world,” Obama said Friday during a speech in Washington. “When our friends are in need, America helps.”
Nepal saw a massive 7.3-magnitude earthquake earlier Tuesday, killing more than 100, two weeks after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed thousands in the country.
