Rupert Murdoch stepping down

Rupert Murdoch will step down as CEO of 21st Century Fox, sources within the company told CNBC, though an exact timetable has yet to be established.

{mosads}Murdoch, 84, is expected to hand the helm over to his son, James, while maintaining an advisory role as the company’s executive chairman.

Lachlan Murdoch, Rupert’s other son, is slated to be named executive co-chairman.

The leadership shuffle could take place later this year or in early 2016.
