Jindal says US ‘on the path towards socialism’

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) on Sunday accused President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of dragging the nation toward socialism.

{mosads}“I’m running [for president] because I want to stop President Obama and Secretary Clinton from turning the American dream into the European nightmare,” Jindal said on John Catsimatidis’s radio show on New York’s AM 970. “We are on the path towards socialism. It’s not too late, but the hour is late.”

Jindal, who joined the contest for the Republican presidential nomination late last month, also criticized former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for comments he made about GOP electability.

“I think we need to be who we are; we need to be fearless,” Jindal said. “I disagree with Jeb Bush. He said we have to be willing to lose the primary to win the general election. Let me translate — he’s saying we need to hide our conservative ideas.”

“If we do that, we’re going to lose again,” Jindal said. “Let’s endorse our own principles and fight for what we believe in.”

Jindal is a long shot for the nomination and faces an uphill climb just to qualify for the GOP debates later this summer.

He’s currently in 14th place, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, taking only 1.3 percent support. Two early debates will be capped at 10 candidates based on national polling numbers.
