Trump: Iran will have ‘hell to pay’ if they break deal on my watch
Donald Trump says Iran will have “hell to pay” if they break the nuclear deal while he’s president.
“I will make this agreement so tough, and if they break it, they will have hell to pay,” Trump told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday.
The GOP 2016 front-runner said the deal requires tougher restrictions on Iran.
{mosads}“I do think it is a disastrous deal,” Trump added. “How do we agree to things like this? We have a bad contract.”
Trump also argued on Friday that he wouldn’t void President Obama’s nuclear agreement with Tehran on his possible first day in office.
“I know it would be popular for me to say what some of them are going to do — ‘I am going to rip it up,’” he said, referencing other Republican White House hopefuls who have made that promise.
“I love buying bad contracts,” Trump said, citing his experience in real estate. “This is one of the most incompetently-drawn contracts. This deal should never have been made the way it was made.”
Trump said the deal has already done damage.
Its economic sanctions relief, he argued, gives Tehran new funds for sponsoring terrorism.
“Iran is going to be a terror,” the outspoken billionaire said.
The deal negotiated between Iran and six world powers gives economic sanctions relief in exchange for limits on the nuclear program.
Obama gained enough Congressional support for the diplomatic bargain earlier this week to uphold a veto of a potential resolution of disapproval, a vote Congress intends to take before Sept. 17.
