Trump, Carson share awkward handshake during debate
Republican presidential candidates Ben Carson and Donald Trump took a moment during Wednesday’s turbulent GOP debate to hug it out with their hands, sharing a high five-handshake hybrid after bonding over the subject of the Iraq War.
{mosads}After Trump noted his early opposition to the war, Carson chimed in to note that he too advised against the invasion.
“I just want that on the record,” Carson said as Trump reached out to the adjacent podium and offered the retired neurosurgeon his hand.
The two leading candidates then clasped fingers for a moment of peace and levity, before continuing on as presidential rivals.

Trump and Jeb Bush later shared a “high energy” low-five that was much more successful than Trump’s outreach to Carson.
