Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suggested Friday that the U.S. public was deprived from hearing more from him during the second GOP presidential debate this week.
“I thought the American people were shortchanged,” Walker said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” suggesting the conversation should have centered on policy.
A Walker spokeswoman told media outlets Thursday that Walker had a lot prepared for the debate, but “Unfortunately, CNN had an agenda last night and it showed.”
{mosads}Front-runner Donald Trump got 20 minutes of speaking time during the debate, more than doubling Walker, who got the least of the 11 candidates on stage at nine minutes, according to The New York Times.
Walker suggested Friday that he wasn’t called upon more than a few times during the three-hour debate because he wasn’t interested in “talking about personalities.”
A front-runner earlier this year, Walker has seen the sharpest decline of any Republican candidate in the past few weeks, dropping 15 points in one Iowa poll.
Walker attended a fundraiser Thursday morning following the debate and tried to reassure donors his strategy to win in Iowa was on track, The Hill reported.
“I think there’s a real sense of urgency in America, not anger, but urgency — that Americans are concerned,” Walker said on MSNBC, mentioning the economy and efforts to repeal ObamaCare.
Walker also noted that on the campaign trail he’s focused his barbs on President Obama and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton instead of going after other GOP candidates.
