Trump calls for Macy’s Christmas boycott

Donald Trump is urging supporters not to do their Christmas shopping at Macy’s in retaliation for the department store dumping his signature business clothing line.

“Good news, disloyal Macy’s stock is in total free fall,” Trump said in a Facebook post on Friday, accompanied by the company’s stock chart. “Don’t shop there for Christmas!”

Macy’s in July decided to drop Trump’s merchandise in response to controversial comments he made about Mexican immigrants, calling them “killers and rapists” in his campaign launch speech.

{mosads}“In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004,” the company said in a statement at the time.

“We do not believe that disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nations.”

The Republican primary front-runner called for his supporters to boycott the store after they dropped his line.

Macy’s was not the only high-profile company to cut ties with Trump over his remarks.

NBC severed its relationship with the businessman following the remarks, dropping him as the face of the “Celebrity Apprentice.”
