Two Paris attack suspects arrested in migrant camp
Austrian authorities have arrested two men at a migrant shelter who may be connected to the Paris terrorist attack last month.
State Prosecutor Robert Holzleitner said the men were arrested at a transit camp for asylum seekers in Salzburg, Austria over the weekend, according to the Kronen Zeitung.
He said the men were suspected of “participation in a terrorist organization,” adding that “indications of a possible link to the Paris attacks are currently being investigated.”
{mosads}Multiple reports suggest the suspects were waiting in the city, which borders Germany, to receive orders for another terrorist attack.
The men are French citizens, of Pakistani or Algerian decent, who were posing as refugees fleeing the Middle East, according to the Zeitung.
It’s believed the pair traveled with some of the Paris attackers through Greece and the Balkans in early October.
They were reportedly carrying fake Syrian passports. At least one assailant in the Nov. 13 Paris attack carried out by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is suspected of entering the country using a fake Syrian passport.
The men were reportedly arrested after local police received a tipoff from a foreign intelligence service. The pair also reportedly boasted to other refugees about fighting with ISIS in Syria.
Austrian police and intelligence are now questioning the men.
