Four Secret Service agents injured in deadly car crash

Four Secret Service agents were injured and one person was killed in a head-on car crash in New Hampshire on Tuesday night, according to multiple reports.

{mosads}Authorities told CBS News a Mercury Sable sedan crossed over a double-yellow line on Route 16 in Wakefield and collided with a Ford Taurus carrying the on-duty agents.

The Sable driver, identified to The Associated Press as Bruce Danforth, died on the scene, and his two female passengers, along with the four agents, were taken to area hospitals.

“At this time, our personnel have sustained what is described as serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy told NBC News in a statement.

The extent of the others’ injuries is unknown.

It is not clear to whom the agents were assigned, though Democratic primary candidate Hillary Clinton held a town hall event nearby on Tuesday evening.
