Trump: Obama ‘led the way’ on executive orders
Donald Trump says President Obama’s irresponsible use of executive orders has paved the way for him to also use them freely if he wins the presidential race.
{mosads}”I won’t refuse it. I’m going to do a lot of things,” Trump said when asked if he would use executive orders in an interview Sunday on NBC”s “Meet the Press.”
“I mean, he’s led the way, to be honest with you,” he added, referring to Obama.
The Republican primary front-runner said his executive orders, unlike the president’s, will be for the “right things.”
“But I’m going to use them much better and they’re going to serve a much better purpose than he’s done,” he said.
Trump has advocated barring Muslim immigration to the country and deporting millions of illegal immigrants.
Obama recently used executive action to tighten restrictions on gun sales, infuriating the right, which has often objected to his used of the orders in the past.
He has also issued executive orders to negotiate a carbon emission bill with China and to grant temporary amnesty to 5 million immigrants, among others.
